Be a Volunteer for the City of Oak Ridge
If you are a resident of Oak Ridge, would you like to volunteer to serve the City of Oak Ridge and its citizens? If yes, then consider offering your service to participate as an appointed citizen member of one of the Oak Ridge CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS . The City of Oak Ridge boards and commissions are authorized by City Council. At present, there are seventeen such boards and commissions in the city. Except for the Board of Equalization, the members of these boards serve without compensation. A resident of Oak Ridge desiring to be a candidate for Council appointment to a board or commission must submit an application (resume) to the Council at the office of the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. by the stated cutoff date. Copies of the resumes will be circulated to the Council members as a part of the agenda materials for the meeting at which the appointment is to occur. The affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the Council then in office is required for appointment to a board or commission. The vote is taken by open ballot during a regular Council meeting. For more information see Oak Ridge CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS or contact the City Clerk's office via e-mail jbernard@cortn.org or telephone (865)425-3411.
